How the Ingredient Analyzer Works

Our Ingredient Analyzer parses the text you paste and matches each ingredient against our comprehensive database of food additives. The tool recognizes standard ingredient names, E-numbers (like E621 or E171), common aliases, and alternative spellings used across different countries.

For each recognized ingredient, the analyzer shows the safety rating, whether it is banned or restricted in any country, and a link to the full detail page with regulatory status across 10 countries including the US, EU, UK, Japan, Canada, Australia/NZ, India, South Korea, Brazil, and China. Ingredients that are controversial or banned somewhere are highlighted so you can make informed choices.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I photograph a food label to analyze it?
Currently, the analyzer works by pasting text from a food label. You can type or copy the ingredient list from a food product. We recommend copying the text directly from the manufacturer's website or typing it from the physical label for best results.
How accurate is the Ingredient Analyzer?
The analyzer matches ingredients against our database of food additives using name matching, E-number detection, and common alias recognition. It accurately identifies most standard food additives and E-numbers. However, it may not recognize every proprietary blend name or brand-specific ingredient description. We continuously improve our matching algorithm.
What ingredients should I avoid?
This depends on your personal health goals and sensitivities. Our analyzer flags ingredients that are banned in at least one major market, those rated 'avoid' or 'caution' in our safety database, and those with high controversy levels. Check each flagged ingredient's detail page for full safety information and make informed decisions based on your own research.
